Hunter Valley Road Trip

Date: Saturday, 14th April 2012 (Mid-Sem Break)
Time: 6:30AM – 8:00PM
Location: The Hunter Valley 

Want something to do during mid-semester break besides that essay that you’ve been putting off for weeks? Join us for this day road trip up to Sydney’s home away from home, The Hunter Valley. At just 2.5 hours north of Sydney the Hunter Valley is home to Australia’s finest wines and some of the nations most spectacular views. We’ll be doing some light wine tasting, browsing of the famous HVGardens, and dining at one of the wine country’s finest Muse Restaurant.

Our journey will begin at 6.30 am at UNSW Kensington and will draw to an end arriving back at UNSW at 8.00pm (the same day).

Fees: $25 for Arc, $30 Non-Arc
*includes $18 entry fee & petrol costs

Eric Kim Street Photography Talk

Date: Friday, 20th April 2012
Time: 4:00PM – 6:00PM (Week 7)
Location: Lecture Theatre M17, Chemical Science Building

An International Street Photographer from L.A., Eric Kim will be speaking at a free public talk organised by the UNSW PhotoClub. Eric gained popularity in the online world through his blog and the workshops he runs in various countries all over the world. His positive teaching outlook helps students overcome fears of photographing strangers up close and instead encourages them to engage with their subjects.

Eric has collaborated with Leica, the Magnum photographers collective, and the Invisible Photographer Asia. He has recently taught a university level street photography course at UC Riverside Extension. Come down with questions and listen for street shooting tips, tricks and amusing anecdotes!

Stuck finding that perfect shot? Looking for other ways to express your creativity? Design a tee for the PhotoClub and wear your artistic pride on your sleeve, literally! The T-shirt design competition is open to all current members. The winning designer will receive a Superheadz Slim Angel camera and a free T-shirt featuring their design!

Requirements:
Entries must be submitted on a white background, have a maximum of 4 colours, and must include images of our logo and our sponsors Arc and Georges, which can be found at the end of this email. Be creative!

Send in your entries in JPG format to [email protected] by the 27th of April, after which entries will be displayed on our Facebook page for voting. You will be notified by email if you win! The winner will be asked to send in high-resolution version of their artwork.
