Week 4 Tutorial: Motion Photography w/ Kim Brewster!

This week we have a guest speaker – Kim Brewster coming to talk all about motion photography! She has experience with a range of photographic niches including stroboscopic photography. Don’t know what that is? Come and find out! Kim has also experimented with long exposure and flash photography and is very much a visual artist rather than someone who simply takes a photo. We’re having a pizza night this week! It’s free pizza and drinks for all PhotoClub members. Grab a slice and use this time to have a chat with everyone!

Week 4 Outing: Sick Shots with Tricksoc!

PhotoClub and TrickSoc will be combining forces to bring you an awesome collab where PhotoClubbers will be able to practice their new skills from Kim’s Motion Photography tutorial the day before and the tricksters can get free pics of them in action! Get keen to see an awesome array of tricks!
We’ll be meeting at the Opera House steps before going to the Botanical Gardens.
Please note that we won’t be stopping for food – we recommend bringing a snack and drink to remain fuelled.
Please keep an eye on this Facebook event on Saturday in the case of wet weather.
Items to bring could include (but are not compulsory):
- Camera – DSLR, MILC, Compact, Film, Phone, as long as it takes pictures!
- Tripod
- Sunscreen and hat
- Comfortable walking shoes
Week 4 Outing: Circus Photography w/ Circusoc!

Continuing on the theme of motion photography, we’re collabing with our great friends from Circusoc! Come and take advantage of the chance to capture all sorts in motion, with acts such as juggling, poi, acro, hula hooping and more! Get that shutter speed, aperture and ISO triangle perfect to freeze Circusoc in action!

Workshop B
Time: 2:00pm – 3:00pm

This week, we will continue running Workshop B – Focus. This workshop will give you a complete breakdown of how a camera focuses, its different focus modes and how to use them to your advantage. We will also be covering some other basics including depth of field, dynamic range and white balance.

Workshop C
Time: 10:00am – 11:00am
Location: Library room 402
This week, we will begin running Workshop C – Composition. This workshop will cover all the major rules and guidelines of composition, which will assist you in turning nice photos into great ones. The compositional tools we look at include figure-to-ground, framing, viewpoint, perspective and many more. We will also de-construct some famous photographs to see what makes them so powerful.
